Reaching the Venue

Metsätalo ('Forest House') is located at the City Center Campus of the University of Helsinki. The address is Unioninkatu 40 or Fabianinkatu 39 (entrance at both sides). The venue can be reached from Senaatintori (Senate Square) which is a central place in Helsinki on foot in about 5–7 minutes.

In general, Metsätalo is easiest reached on foot in case your hotel is located in the city centre. In case your hotel is located further away, you can check the best route from the Journey Planner. Write the address of your accomodation or the name of bus/tram/metro stop on the "Search origin"-field and the address "Unioninkatu 40, Helsinki" or "Fabianinkatu 39, Helsinki" on the "Search destination"-field. 


How to reach Helsinki

It is easy to come to Finland. Helsinki can be reached by plane smoothly from everywhere. There are several straight flight connections from all over the world. Helsinki Airport consistently ranks among the best airports in the world and serves around 350 flights a day to locations around the world, including 25 direct flights a week to China.

Airport is located at a distance of 17 km from the centre of Helsinki and the journey time between the airport and city centre is around 30 minutes Getting from the airport to the city centre:

    • By train: Local trains I and P operate between Helsinki Airport and the city centre on the Ring Rail Line. The journey time between the airport and the city centre (Central Railway Station) is approximately half an hour. A regional ticket could be purchased from Helsinki Region Transport (HSL) ticket machines and from HSL Mobile ticket app
    • By bus: The Finnair City Bus operates between the airport and city centre (Elielinaukio) every 20 minutes and takes around 30 minutes. A single ticket could be purchasedd online in advance or from the driver. Bus 615 (“Lentoasema-Rautatientori”) is operated by Helsinki Region Transport (HSL). A regional ticketcould be purchased from the driver with cash, from Helsinki Region Transport (HSL) ticket machines or via HSL Mobile ticket app. At night you can also take the 415N night bus.
    • By taxi: You can also travel conveniently between the airport and the city centre by taxi, which will cost around 50 euros.

There are excellent train connections to Helsinki from all major towns in Finland as well as Lapland. There is also a daily train service from St. Petersburg and Moscow in Russia. The Central Railway Station is located in the centre of the city, and is a landmark of Helsinki in itself.

There are daily ferry services to Helsinki from Tallinn, Estonia by Tallink Silja Line, Viking Line, Eckerö Line and Linda Line, and Stockholm, Sweden by Tallink Silja Line and Viking Line. Helsinki can also be reached by ferry from Germany by Finnlines and Russia by St. Peter Line. All the ferry companies (except Linda Line) also offer the possibility to take a car with you.
